Plan an InterPlay experience for your group!

InterPlay has been used in a variety of settings including family reunions, birthday and other celebrations, staff development with non-profit, health, and education and arts groups. There have even been InterPlay sessions done in a women's prison and with mental health groups. The InterPlay forms are wonderful for quickly building a sense of community.

Join us for an evening of creative expression and self-empowerment featuring two totally fun and interactive processes that "play off each other" using silence, music, authentic movement, dance, writing, reflection, and storytelling. Bring a friend for a time to remember!

WORDPLAY is a unique combination of practices that use the written and spoken word to enhance creativity, strengthen the intuition, promote self-acceptance, and foster an overall sense of well being. Exercises and activities include Inner Dictation (developing inwardness), Creative Positivity (affirming your truth) and Direct Expression (guided journaling and poem-making). Wordplay presents an excellent opportunity to gather with others to revel in your love of language and to harness its creative potential. Wordplay will be facilitated by poet, performer, and "artist of encouragement" Thandiwe Shiphrah. Thandiwe has spent the past 12 years teaching people how to use language to achieve greater levels of fulfillment in their personal and professional lives.

InterPlay! is a philosophy and set of simple, body-centered activities that creates art from life in solo, partner, and group play. It invites us to make stuff up in the moment, to have fun, laugh with others, discover ourselves, and claim body wisdom as a path to having grace, ease, and fullness in our lives. InterPlay emphasizes the power of affirmation and re-teaches adults the ability to be spontaneous - that profound process of using one's inner resources to interact with and enjoy the world. It is accessible to people of all ages and abilities and has been used with folks from 5 to 85. InterPlay will be facilitated by Diane Saliba Ault, a long-time community organizer, activist, and artist who loves the simplicity and elegance of the InterPlay forms and delights in sharing them with others.

Workshop participants are encouraged to share the artistry that results from WORDPLAY and InterPlay! with each other at the conclusion of the day's activities by telling a story, singing a song, or making a dance. At our last gathering in May, we created some wonderful word/movement/reflections. For some of the poetry/reflections that came out of our workshop write to celebrate@onemain.com and I'll email them to you!
