Background
InterPLAY!
is a philosophy
and set of simple,
body-centered activities
using movement, story,
song, stillness and
dance. It invites
us to make stuff up
in the moment, have
fun, laugh with others,
discover ourselves.
It was created by
Phil Porter and Cynthia
Winton-Henry over
a 20-year partnership
as artists, educators,
performers and ordained
ministers.
As “body intellectuals”
they have written
several books, lecture
nationally & internationally,
direct the “Wing It!”
Ensemble in Oakland,
CA and host several
retreats, playshops
and “Untensives”.
InterPlay has tried
and true, simple methods
that allow people
to GENTLY get more
of this good stuff
happening in their
lives.
It is not heavy,
or dogmatic in it's
approach, but simple,
and playful, and literally
ANY _BODY_ can do
it! It is based on
simply noticing and
responding to the
wisdom of our bodyselves
in the company of
other bodyselves in
an affirming, supportive
environment.
Facilitators bring
only the most minimal
direction to the process
and the gathered group
brings the content.
Though there is structure
and form to it, each
and every gathering
is unique and sometimes
quite beautiful and
profound.
